How to Create Tags in Notion
First, you should have your database ready. Tags are currently supported only in databases. There are two types of tags in Notion. One is “select” and another is “multi-select”. Simply put, the first one will let you assign only a single tag to a page in your database, while the second one will let you use multiple tags on a single page.
Step 1: Create your database
If you have your database ready, skip to the next step. To add our tag, we would need a Notion database where we will use it. Write “/database” and you will get a new database on your page.
You will see this simple database. There is a tags block already there, but let’s see how to add that ourselves.
First, click the plus icon(+) beside the columns of the database to open the database property option menu.
Then select the “Select” option for a single tagging system, and select “Multi-select” to add multiple tags to a single page of the database.
We have created a “progress” column which could only be “To-start”, “In-Progress” or “Completed” for a task manager database. We are using the “Select” tagging system instead of “Multi-Select”, as a task can’t be “In-Progress” and “Completed” at the same time.
Now to add the tags, just write the tag in and hit “Enter” on your keyboard. The tag will automatically add to a list of tags so if in the later pages, you can just select the tags you want to add.

How to Remove Tags from a page
To remove a tag, just hit the cross button on the tag.
How to Delete Tags from the List
To delete a tag, hover over the tag in the list, and a 3-dot menu button will appear. Click on that menu, and click on the delete option from the menu to delete the tag from the list.
How to customize the color of the Tag
To change the color of any tag. Hover over the tag from the list of tags and open the menu by clicking on the 3-dot icon. A menu will appear, and you will be able to select a color from a list of colors that are present in the menu.
